During 2022, the International Atomic Energy Agency (
IAEA
) unexpectedly withdrew 17 nuclear power reactors from its statistics of operating reactors, created a new status category called “Suspended Operation”, and retroactively modified its data series accordingly. As of 1 January 2023,
