Welcome to the Interactive Visualization on Nuclear Power Reactor Construction

The WNISR Interactive Datavisualization—in short DataViz—is a tool designed to visualize the status and trends of the global nuclear power industry over the 75 years since construction of the first reactor started in 1951.

The DataViz is part of the World Nuclear Industry Status Report (WNISR) Project together with the Annual Report, published since 2007, with precursor editions released as early as 1992 and 2004, and the website www.WorldNuclearReport.org hosting the Annual Reports and the DataViz.

The DataViz builds on WNISR’s decades-long monitoring of a large number of indicators developed and refined over the years to provide a comprehensive global overview and the ability to explore very specific research questions.

The following examples present a few of the many different entries and filters when searching for answers to very concrete questions:

The DataViz tool encourages users to explore the data and discover how the sector has evolved over time through a range of intuitive, dedicated filters. Here are a few more examples:

From broad view to reactor scale, journalists, academic researchers NGO and think-tank analysts, politicians, and the curious individual reader can define their own exploration criteria and drill down to the individual unit level.

Designed as a scalable toolkit, in the future the DataViz will incorporate additional modules and features, in particular interactive graphics and country-related background information, highlighting specific issues or offering more opportunities to comprehend the dynamics of the industry.

The WNISR-DataViz is a playground for people interested in the reality check of the nuclear industry along numerous indicators they can individually select and define.
