Number of nuclear reactors’ shutdown worldwide 2023, by age

As of July 2023, most of the closed nuclear reactors worldwide were aged between 21 and 40 years at the time of their closure. A total of 212 nuclear reactors were shutdown worldwide. Their average age was 28.2 years, compared with 31.4 years for operable nuclear reactors.
