Fuqing‑6 Hualong One Reactor Connected to the Grid in China

WNISR, 10 January 2022

The Fuqing-6 reactor located in Fujian province in south east China was connected to the grid on 1 January 2022 according to plant owner China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC). Construction began on the HPR1000 reactor, also known as Hualong One design, on 22 December 2015. The design is derived mainly from the 900 MWe reactors that China imported from France in the 1980s (Daya Bay) and 1990s (Ling Ao). The first HPR1000, Fuqing-5, was connected to the grid on 27 November 2020.
